Book writing is different from book self-publishing.

A year and a half ago I started writing a fantasy story. A year later I dared to think about publishing it. Then I started thinking about whether I should try to do it through a traditional publisher or whether I should do it myself.

I'm halfway there now, and I'm going crazy about how much work is involved. Find an editor yourself. Finding a designer for the cover and interior, and then the hardest part is finding a printing company yourself and finally getting the book distributed. And all of that costs money, a lot of money. And all I want is for as many people as possible to read my book and enjoy it.
Editor
Fortunately, I had previously worked with an English-language editing service: BookHelpline. They edited my English poetry collection and this time I asked them to edit my fantasy book.
The book cover
The book cover was designed by sienna.coverart through Fiverr.com. I ended up having two book covers designed, one by sienna.coverart and another by a designer I met through TikTok. Both covers were beautiful and it was hard to choose. In the end, I chose the one that my team liked best (see photo). Working with sienna.coverart was amazing. It was like the designer could read my mind and the book cover turned out just like I had imagened it.

Next blog
In my next blog post, I will tell you more about my experience with self-publishing, such as finding out what an ISBN number is and how to buy one, why I chose the printer who will print my books, and which self-publishing platform I will use to publish my book.
