In order to publish a book, you need a book cover. You can design one using Canva.com.
However, the quality of the document is not high enough for printing; the colours will be too pale. Bookshops will therefore not want to stock the book, as they can tell from the quality of the cover whether it has been professionally laid out.
Fiverr – professional designer
Hire a professional via Fiverr.
M. J. Sahanaja did just that, and the result was a great book cover. She used the cover for the paperback version, which is due to be published in the Netherlands on 7 October 2025. She also used it for the e-book.
Designing a book cover yourself
If you want to design your own book cover, you can use Canva. There is a trick, though: you can upload the cover you've created in Canva to Affinity Publisher to create a professional-looking cover.

Simply fill in the form and the calculator will generate a template for you.
Tip #2 is to search on YouTube for tutorials.
There are a lot of really good YouTube tutorials. Not only for creating a book cover but also for the interior design of the book.
